Dr.Web console scanners are available for the following operating systems: MS DOS, OS/2, Windows. These are cost-sparing solutions for advanced users familiar with the command line.

Console scanners use the same Dr.Web virus database and search module as all Dr.Web solutions and are updated once or several times per hour. They protect computers against viruses, spyware, adware, riskware, dialers, joke programs, etc.

Outstanding resistance to viruses
Dr.Web’s exceptional resistance to viruses and its ability to be installed onto an infected PC distinguishes it from competitive products. Dr.Web scanners can even be run without installation — from a CD or USB flash drive, for instance.

Dr.Web is not an anti-virus only!
Dr.Web successfully detects, cures or removes viruses and all types of malicious objects, including rootkits, mail and network worms, file viruses, Trojan programs, spyware, adware, hacker tools, paid dialers and joke programs.

Unique non-signature detection technology
The Origins Tracing™ technology has been added to traditional signature scan and heuristic analysis. It significantly improves detection of yet unknown viruses. Malicious objects detected using the new technology get the .Origin extension to their names.

Correct scan of archived and packed files
Dr.Web correctly checks the majority of existing formats of packed files and archives with any nesting level, including multi-volume and self-extracting, which is extremely important for e-mail systems. Dr.Web recognizes over 1000 types of archives and packers.

Very frequent updates of the virus database
Updates to the Dr.Web virus database are released as soon as new entries are added – up to several times per hour. "Hot" add-ons are released as soon as a new piece of malware is caught and analyzed. Dr.Web global monitoring network collects samples of new viruses from all over the world. Updates are delivered to customers from several updating servers located in different parts of the globe.

Dr.Web has the most compact virus database
That’s why files are scanned quickly, sparing hard drive disk space and RAM, as well as Internet traffic for downloading of the updates is almost instantaneous. Just one entry in the Dr.Web virus database allows detecting dozens, or hundreds, or even thousands of similar viruses.

Most resources-friendly anti-viruses
Dr.Web console scanners have extremely low system requirements and provide reliable virus protection for older machines.

If a computer has already been infected and doesn't respond to system calls, Dr.Web Anti-virus scanner for DOS 386 could bring the machine back to life. Exceptional resistance to viruses and supported installation in an infected system distinguish Dr.Web products from its competitors. Dr.Web scanners can even be run without installation - from a CD or a removable drive, for instance.

Default settings
By default, the main memory, startup files, boot sectors, archives and packed files, mail programs' files and files in sub-directories of directories set to be checked are scanned. The heuristic analysis is performed as well, unless this option is disabled by a user upon launchingt the scanner. However, the default scanner settings do not contain curing jobs and no actions are specified for infected or suspicious files.

Command line options
Command line keys are used to manage program setting. If no keys are specified, scanning is performed using default settings, unless the latter were changed after the launch. Dr.Web console scanners have a lot of options determining the program performance, which can be divided into several groups: scanning, diagnostics, actions and interface settings. Being run, the scanner can be tuned for the current session with a list of targets to be scanned. All hard discs, one disc only, or files in directories or sub-directories can be scanned.

Flexible configuration
The default settings provided by our developers are optimal, however sometimes they can fail to meet particular user's demands. Dr.Web console scanners allow modifying the settings stored in the configuration file. Some parameters can be specified in the program's configuration file only. If you skip some parameter, which often happens while tuning, the default one will be used.

Scanning statistics
After the scanning is done, a report is generated on all checked, cured, moved, deleted and suspicious objects, as well as on time and speed of the scanning.

Set up options
The default settings designed by our developers are optimal, but they can sometimes fail to meet particular user’s demands. Dr.Web console scanners allow to flexibly modify the settings stored in the configuration file. Some settings can be specified in the program’s configuration file only. If you skip some parameter, which often happens while tuning, the default one will be used.
